I started Joshua’s Outpost in June 2018 as an outlet to share my testimony and journey coming to Christ. Unknown to me, God wanted to use Joshua’s Outpost to reach men all over the world. Over the past 6 months, we’ve grown to 7 contributors. Our readership spans 74 countries globally, with South Africa, the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Australia and Nigeria as the top viewers of our blog.
Now that 2018 is coming to a close, here are the top 5 blog posts for 2018:
Number 5: I Did Not Marry My Soulmate by Michael Price
The concept of finding one’s soulmate is something pop culture puts out there on what an ideal romantic relationship ‘should’ look like. We are told that when we find our ‘soulmates’ or ‘the one’, we will be happy and finally be complete. Sadly, this places unrealistic expectations on the relationship. If complications in the marriage begin to occur (and they inevitably will), some might take this as a sign this person must not be ‘the one’.
Number 4: What it Means to Be a Man by Clinton Wayne Pillay
So, what makes a man? What defines us? The answer may surprise you. A real man doesn’t always have a chiseled physique or ambitious mindset. Sometimes a real man has a belly or he’s rocking the latest fashion from five years ago. You see, the hallmark of a real man is sacrifice. He may love to be dressed up and probably was quite the head-turner in his day.
However, the needs of “His people”, his loved ones supersede his own desires. The reason why the Bible places the man as the head of the home is not out of male superiority but his innate desire to make personal sacrifices for his loved ones. He is supposed to have the vision of a better life for his family and then make the sacrifices to get them there. You know, we love Ephesians 5:22-33.
Number 3: 3 Things That Christian Men Should Fight For by Mitchell Friestad
As I’ve known Jesus for a while now, I’ve often seen Him as God who brings peace, grace, and compassion to humanity. Though that is true, there are also a lot of things that Jesus fights for. And as we are called to be like him, there are things that we should also be fighting for as men of God.
Number 2: Beware of Satan’s Attack on the Word of God by Michael Price
As Americans, we no longer read or watch the same news outlets, let alone have a common understanding of what the Bible says. In our churches, for example, this can be seen in what the congregant and preachers believe the Bible says about same-sex marriage. The camps divide into either supportive, unsupportive, indecisive, or indifferent when it comes to this one issue. Not everyone can be right. Only God’s Word can be correct. It seems when it comes to the biblical truth, we are contorting scripture to fit ‘our truth’ and our worldview.
Number 1: 5 Lies Christians Believe About Marriage by Prescott Williamson
Marriage is not easy. It does not come delivered in a nice, neat package to your front door. What makes it even harder are the lies we believe. The lies told to us from the ultimate review troll-Satan. Here are 5 lies, I’ve seen with my own eyes, that are believed by Christians.
Giving Thanks
Foremost, we want to thank God for blessing our blog. We hope we are glorifying him with what we are doing at Joshua’s Outpost. We also want to thank each and every one of our readers for their love and support in 2018. This blog would not even exist if it weren’t for our readers. Helping men grow in their faith and walk with Christ is why each of us is motivated to write for Joshua’s Outpost.
Lastly, I want to thank each and every one of the contributors who write for Joshua’s Outpost. I want to express my gratefulness to Darryl, Mitchell, Clinton, Nick, Prescott, Tom and Andrew. God has blessed me with your friendships.
And most importantly, I want to say thank you to my wife. Without your love and support, I would not have started this blog. I love you very much!
We do not take our success for granted, and we hope and pray 2019 will bring bigger things to Joshua’s Outpost.
Again, thank you for all your love and support. God bless!
