Three simple yet powerful words.
Proverbs 10:9 says to walk in integrity and people in who take crooked paths will be found out.
Fake news is all the rage now. There are actual sites out there that publish 100% fake news stories just to show how people will share fake stories without checking the source. These stories get shared thousands of times before someone finally comments “you know this is fake right?” All it takes is one post from someone who someone else trusts and they share it, and so on and so forth. You have all these people making up obviously fake stories for attention and no one pays any mind to real heroes like me who beat up a volcano (legal notification: I did not do this).
The Masks We Wear
Why do we wear masks around other people? Why are we afraid to be who God calls us to be? God doesn’t call us to keep it 100. God calls us to do what he wants us to do to further His Kingdom. We have to be all in.
To be honest there are things in the Bible that I do not agree with. One of them is one about vengeance. If it were up to me that verse would be “Vengeance is mine sayeth the Prescott.” But to keep it real, I don’t get to choose what part of the Bible I want to be real and what part I want to be fake. You can’t be a little pregnant. Either you are or you aren’t. Either you choose to be real and follow God or you don’t.
Be Real for God
How do you be real for God? It requires you to look deep within yourself and stop lying to the person who has the most influence…yourself. People lie to themselves all the time. “I don’t need to write that down, I will remember it” or “Just one chip and that’s it”.
Then there are the serious lies we tell ourselves, “this is the last drink” or “just this last time on this website then I won’t ever again”. What we need to say is “God I can’t do this on my own, I am weak, and I will fail every single time unless you help me”. Keep it real with your self and admit you are a flawed individual that needs a massive dose of help.
The most peaceful time in my life was when I broke down and told God everything that was wrong with me and that I cannot do this on my own. I want to be an instrument for Him and Him alone. That is the worst thing that Satan wants to hear so be prepared to get an all-out blitz from him. It’s like a mosquito. The male mosquito buzzes but the female does not. But the female mosquito bites and the male does not. So, when you hear a buzzing mosquito just shoo it away, but when you hear nothing then be very afraid. Same thing with Satan.
If you are doing your best for God, Satan will do his best to make all kinds of noise to distract you. It’s when you hear nothing from him you should be afraid. It’s because you are already on his team and he isn’t worried about you. You want to be attacked by Satan. It’s a good thing. Trust me.
The good news you don’t have to be the same you can always change. Think of it like this. If you jump out of an airplane and your parachute malfunctions, you have the rest of your life to fix it. Be real for God, and if you aren’t, then you still have the rest of your life to fix it. But you don’t have forever.
Prescott Williamson is a Bible-believing Christian. He is a husband, a father, and someone who believes that there is a little humor to be found in whatever situation God sends your way. He was born in the small islands of the Bahamas but now lives in the Suburbs of Fort Worth Texas, which is basically the same thing. He enjoys TV, reading, blogging and serving in his church (especially on the days they serve donuts). You can see what I have been thinking about lately on my blog www.prescottascoolbreeze.com.
