Have you seen a man who is courting a woman?
Do you notice how much that man would do almost anything just to be with her?
Can you imagine how that man grabs every effort to know the love of her life, spends time with her, and get to know more about her?
Whether you are in a relationship or not, I know you have an idea what happens when a man tries to get the sweet “yes” of his lady.
Now, I want you to think about this:
What if you have the same zeal and passion when building a close relationship with Yahweh, your Creator?
The reason why God called you
We have read in the previous chapters how God called us and why we must respond immediately to His call.
However, have you ever asked yourself, “Why would God call you? Call you to do what?”
Christ called His disciples and the disciples answered that call.
What’s the purpose of Yahshua calling Peter, John, James, Andrew, Phillip, and the rest of the disciples?
Is it to make them a slave? Is it to simply make them an instrument to fulfill a selfish purpose?
Obviously not.
When Yahshua said, “Follow Me,” He was inviting the disciples to live closer to Him.
Jesus wanted them to get more acquainted with Him. He wanted to foster an intimate relationship with them and this would only be possible if these individuals spend more time with Yahshua.
More than just accepting the call of God
There’s a reason why God has called you.
He wants to build a closer relationship with you. He is inviting you to become His child and Him as your Father.
It is NEVER enough to just accept the call of God. Responding to God’s call means you are willing to take the necessary steps to get closer to your Creator.
Like a man who courts his lady, you also need to spend more time with God in order for your relationship to flourish.
I have NOT seen a relationship that has grown stronger without people investing in it.
It never works that way.
If you want to get closer to God, you must diligently seek Him.
A willingness to know
As you answer God’s calling in your life and start running the Christian race, it is understandable that you don’t know everything.
There are things that you already know, but there are also things that you will eventually understand.
The same is true with the disciples of Yahshua. They didn’t learn everything overnight and certainly; it takes a lifetime to learn more about God.
Take the example of Philip.
For about three years, Philip has been with Christ along with the other disciples. He has personally listened to Christ’s teachings and instructions.
We read one incident where Philip’s willingness to learn more has been evident. He asked Yahshua to reveal unto them the Father.
