Ode to My Wife

You may think it a forgery

I can assure you, you are wrong.

But if you want to investigate

Check out Proverbs 31

I will tell you of my wife

The finest of jewels

Her beauty and wisdom

Break all the rules

A woman I have

full confidence in,

To raise our children

And keep their hearts from sin

She brings to our home

Every day of her life

Blessings and honor,

Never Quarrel and Strife

She is eager and diligent

With the work of her hands

Our children never go out

In clothes with loose strands

She goes to and fro,

Buying blessings from far away

She tends to the home

While the children play

She rises while it is still night

While her family sleeps

She cooks and she cleans,

She washes and sweeps.

Charm is deceptive

And beauty is fleeting

But a woman who fears the Lord

Will be known by her greeting

She has an eye for business,

As she buys and she sells,

With the proceeds of the deals

She digs new wells.

She wraps herself with strength

As she exercises at night.

Lack and want will surely

not put our family to flight

The work of her hands

Puts clothes on our back

We have so much,

We fill strangers’ lack

She is not perturbed

As seasons trade places

Our children and home

Are covered with graces

She is dexterous and crafty

Her skills are well known

If she puts her mind to it

She can draw blood from a stone.

Due to her diligence

We are well spoken of

Even foreigners know

To speak of us with love

Charm is deceitful

and beauty is vain

But a woman who fears the Lord

Will be blessed with a good name.

Because of her strength

And work of her hand

We are seated amongst

the rulers of the land.

She is stylish and dignified,

Her beauty is multiplied

A future seat of honor

Her children will not be denied.

Her words are Pure Wisdom,

Discerning fact and fiction

Teaching our children

To make God their addiction.

The house is well-kept,

Everything’s in order

Her diligence is known

All the way to the border

The children look around

And praise the work of her hands

While I delight

That she was in His plans

.Many women have gone far

But you surpass them all

Your talents put to shame

Women great and small.

Charm is deceitful

And beauty fades

But a woman who fears the Lord

Will surely  be praised

Reward her for her Work

Let a banner be raised

Let the results of her work

Result in Public Praise!
