The Holy Bible is God’s unchanging word to humanity. In other words, the Bible is God’s written will for man.
The Bible is not an ordinary book, but a supernatural one. Whereas other books can have various editions, the Bible is perfect and complete, hence nothing more can be added to the only existing edition of this unique book.
Read: Are you pushing God away?
It is the most popular and most widely-read book all over the world. As the world’s best seller, it contains the best laws and governments, the secrets of the most modern scientific discoveries, the only authentic record of the origin, destiny and history of man and the world.
The Bible is God’s undiluted and unadulterated word. The Lord says,
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
Certainly, God’s words will abide forever.
Inspiration to Bible writers
The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God. That is to say, this special book came from God, not man.
According to Apostle Paul,
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV).
The Bible comprises 66 books, 1,189 chapters and 31,173 verses, written by 40 authors at different dispensations, and spanning a period of over 1500 years.
Despite this, there is perfect harmony in the writings of the respective authors of the Bible. In the words of F.F Bruce, a great Bible scholar, “The Bible is simply not an anthology; there is a unity which binds the whole together”.
The Holy Bible is divided into the Old and New Testaments. Their authors were inspired by God to write them, despite the fact that they were based in different locations and also lived at different dispensations. Despite all these, there is no contradiction or controversy concerning any of their writings. This is an incontrovertible evidence that the Almighty God is the unseen author of the Bible. 2nd Peter 1:20-21 says,
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of private interpretation. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
Even the Lord Jesus Christ Himself did testify that the entire Bible is the inspired word of God.
“And he said unto them, these are my words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets, and in the Psalms concerning me (Luke 24:44).
The Bible is indestructible and powerful
Psalm 119:89 says, “Forever O Lord, your word is settled in heaven.” God does not need anyone to defend the Bible, as the book speaks for itself. Whatever the Bible declares, it has the power to fulfill. Several enemies of God have made desperate efforts to destroy the Bible or to dismiss its contents as untrue. To their chagrin, they have all failed and the word of God continues to wax stronger and stronger all over the world.
We have had instances of buildings being completely razed down by fire, but miraculously, copies of the Bible were spared. Even some institutions and countries have at different times, tried to destroy copies of the Bible, only to discover that many people were ready to risk their lives, in order to own and read the same sacred book!
Many years ago, an enemy of God in an African country tried to desecrate the Bible by using some pages of it to clean his behind after visiting the loo. Shockingly, that lower part of his body immediately caught fire. In the midst of that, some of his ardent followers abandoned him and surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus, as they became convinced beyond every reasonable doubt that the Bible was not an ordinary powerless book, like some other religious books!
The word of God is infallible and infinite
The Bible is perfect and infallible, and there is nothing to add or subtract from it. Nothing in the Bible has ever been proved to be false, and nothing else is infallible.
Ever before man discovered that the earth was round, God had already stated about the “circle of the earth” (Isaiah 40:22). Before the discovery of gasoline, God had earlier told man where to find oil underneath the earth. Deuteronomy 33:24 (As said of Asher, the 8th son of Jacob)
“More blessed than other sons is Asher; may he be favoured by his brothers and may he dip his foot in oil.”
This Bible verse, amongst others, describes God’s promise to reveal and provide tremendous wealth for Israel in the last days.
Nowadays, scientists are using the Bible to develop the natural resources of Israel. For instance, many years ago, a scientist began his search for oil in the Bible after reading the Book of Genesis.
“Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven, lo the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.” (Genesis 19:24, 28b).
The rising flames as reported in the aforementioned scripture, were indicative of the existence of natural gas (crude oil). Some Geologists later confirmed this, paving the way for the first drilling of Israel’s first oil well in November 1953.
All in all, the Bible is the ONLY way to God. Considering Romans 10:17, the only way to true success is by constantly studying and meditating on the word of God. Joshua 1: 8 says,
“This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
