The Value of Peace

What is the value of peace? Peace is a Child, born in a Manger, God dwelling among us.

The Value of Peace

Peace is elusive

More slippery than an eel

The more of it you want

The less of it you feel

Peace is reclusive

It is not easily found

Though you search the night sky

Or deep underground

Peace is expensive

It’ll cost everything you own

From the hair on your head

To your thousand-dollar phone

Peace is temporary

More fleeting than April snow

Beautiful to watch it fall

Heart-breaking to see it go.

Peace is rare

A diamond in the rough

You’ll look for it everywhere

But won’t find it in more stuff

Peace is discriminating

Not friendly with just anyone

Just because it knew the father

Doesn’t mean it’ll befriend the son

Peace is a song

Known to children alone

That they sing when they gather

In languages unknown

Peace is a country

Far, far away

It cannot be reached

By those gone astray

Peace is an adjective

Used to describe many things

From relationships to places

And emotions with wings

Peace is a city

High up on a hill

Every stone placed

By His Word and His will

Peace is a noun

The name of God Most High

He can answer all your questions:

What, where, when, how or why.

Peace is a stone

The great builders discarded

But whoever does use it

Their project is rewarded.

Peace is a verb

May Shalom be upon you

No matter who you are

Or what valley you’re going through.

Peace is a Child

Born in a Manger

God dwelling among us

Vulnerable to danger

Peace is a Man

Walking on water

Giving sight to the blind

And cleansing the leper

Peace is a Cross

Soaked in His blood

As it fell to the ground

I was washed in the flood

Peace is a Tomb

With the stone rolled away

Because He lives

I too death will betray.
